Heighington Christmas Market 2014 07th December 12:00 - 17:00

Introduction

Welcome to the Heighington Christmas Market website!

The Christmas market was resurrected in December 2005 and takes place on the first Sunday in December. This years market will take place on Sunday 7th   December. This is a traditional street market featuring a variety of mainly craft type stalls. We also utilise both of the Village Halls to house those stalls which cannot be suitably catered for outside. For a full list see our List of Stall Holders page. The 2008 market saw the introduction of a small farmers market section which proved to be extremely popular, this was expanded in 2009 and it is hoped to "grow" this section over the coming years.

The market is run by a small team of volunteers who are very ably assisted on the day by our "Stall Erectors" co-ordinated from The Turks Head pub at the head of the High Street. It is no mean feat to erect a street full of stalls with covers and lighting ready for the stall holders to arrive by 10:00 on a Sunday morning and we are extremely grateful for their efforts.

The market is a self financing affair and any profits from the year are channelled towards:

  1. Purchase of equipment to enhance the following years market
  2. Funding for local children to attend a summer sports activities
  3. Donation to an annually nominated charity. These have included "listening Ears," "Wishing Upon A star", the local Hospitals Midwifery appeal, LIVES and Help for Heroes.

We hope that you will  find all the information you require on these pages and that this will be enough to tempt you to visit our next event.
