The Christmas market was resurrected in December 2005 and takes place annually on the first Sunday of December. This is a traditional street market featuring a variety of stalls, mainly showcasing crafts and fesitve food. We also utilise the Jubilee Hall to house those stalls which cannot be suitably catered for outside. The 2008 market saw the introduction of a small farmers market section which proved to be extremely popular and was expanded in 2009 - it is hoped to grow further over the coming years.
The market is run by a small team of volunteers who are very ably assisted on the day by our "Stall Erectors", co-ordinated from The Turks Head pub at the head of the High Street. It is no mean feat to erect a street full of stalls with covers and lighting ready for the stall holders to arrive by 10:00 on a Sunday morning and we are extremely grateful for their efforts.
